Cass was born in Bethany, Missouri in 1976. With his parents, from a farming and military background, he moved to Texas in 1978. Cass attended public schools in San Antonio and La Vernia, Texas, before attending the University of Texas at Austin. While in college, Cass worked at the White House communications office for the Vice-President of the United States of America. After receiving his bachelors in science in communications, Cass moved to Washington, D.C. for a three year stint working for a political communications consulting firm.

Following his D.C. experiences, Cass moved to Lubbock, Texas to attend Texas Tech School of Law, where he achieved his law degree in May 2004. While a law student, Cass served on the Student Board Association, the Legal Research Board, and participated in Board of Barrister advocacy competitions.

Cass worked for two years for famed West Texas trial attorney Floyd Holder while in law school. In the Spring of 2004, Cass and Holder defended Texas Tech researcher, Thomas Butler, who faced federal criminal charges for bioterrorism related charges over the misplacement of plague specimens. The three-week federal criminal trial remains one of Cass’s most important legal experiences. Cass holds Holder to be one of his best friends and mentor.

After graduating from law school Cass accepted a position with the City of Fort Worth as an assistant city attorney, prosecuting in the Fort Worth Municipal Court. There, Cass tried over 150 criminal cases as lead counsel.

In February of 2006, Cass left the City to open his own criminal defense law practice in Fort Worth. Since then, he’s tried misdemeanor and felony criminal cases. He’s also practiced appellate law in the Second Court of Appeals, here in Fort Worth.

In the time since opening his office, Cass has represented more than a hundred people who’ve been charged with DWI, theft, assault, family violence, possession, sexual assault, traffic violations, DWLI, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and other crimes.

Cass is also the appointed City Attorney for Godley and Venus, Texas, and the appointed City Prosecuting Attorney for Blue Mound, Texas.

Cass practices in Tarrant, Dallas, Johnson, Hood and Parker Counties in county, district and municipal courts. Cass is a member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, The Tarrant County Young Lawyer’s Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association, the Tarrant County Defense Lawyer’s Association, the Hood County Defense Lawyer’s Association, the Texas Bar Association and the Tarrant County Bar Association.

Cass regularly attends continuing legal education seminars, and since the beginning of reporting has racked up over 60 hours of credits specifically related to criminal law.

Cass also received a scholarship to attend the 30th Annual Criminal Trial College, a week-long intensive trial practices seminar, in 2006.

Cass enjoys traveling, running, Texas musicians Pat Green, Kelly Willis, and Bruce Robison, and spending time with his friends and family. Cass also enjoys being involved in politics, participating in numerous campaigns locally and state-wide.
